Panhandling for Peace

Want to be part of a collaborative art project that can change the world?

The Flow Factory is producing “Panhandling for Peace,” an interactive follow up project to the “Reverse Panhandling” video produced by Steve McAllister, and we want your involvement.

We are looking for people willing to spend a portion of April Fools Day standing on street corners and sharing messages of peace, community, and questions to help people rethink the lives we are creating together. You will not be collecting money, only sending out good vibes. We are also looking for photographers that will team with the participants to document the event in order to create another video.

Preparation for the event, including making signs and organizing teams and locations, will occur during Art-Stravaganza at The Flow Factory on March 29 between noon and 7pm. The actual event will occur throughout April Fools Day, with a wrap up/slideshow part at The Flow Factory preceding the regularly scheduled Tuesday Night Music Club.

The Flow Factory is seeking collaborators for another video production for the recording of “If Only” which includes Sara Stovall Moone. The message we hope to convey on April Fools Day is that the ridiculously foolish notion of idealistic happiness is a much better use of one’s time than the practical reality of dour cynicism that we have all too often come to accept as the norm. At its heart, the vision for the project is to create as many smiles as possible.

In the Artistic department, we are looking for actors to serve as sign-holders, writers to come up with signs, painters to create signs, and photographers and videographers to document the experience. Participation in the event requires attendance at the Art-Stravaganza event at The Flow Factory, featuring The Labyrinth of the Unbroken Path, Strokes of Love on the Rocks, and DJ Anything But Broke, on Saturday, March 29 from noon-7pm for sign painting and partner pairings, and participation in the event on Tuesday, April 1. We are also looking for video editors and musical artists that may want to collaborate on offshoot productions.

Participants will be paid with the first run of paper time dollars designed by Truman Adams.

If you would like to be involved in the project or would like more information, contact us at theflowfactorysrq@gmail.com.
